No, not NYC, the Buffalo area. I’m dropping my kids off at my parents house for six weeks. They will get to have such a nice summer surrounded in green, whereas in Tucson it’s 100+.

My postings during this time will be few and far between as I’ll be enjoying the kid-free time with my husband (and I don’t really like cooking when it’s so hot!)

Enjoy the summer!

One Response to “Off to New York!”

  1. Grandma Says:

Well, I decided it was time for me to share the summer with the boys. I thought I was prepared for their appetites…what a shock to discover how much cereal, pancakes, all varieties of fruit we would go through in just a few days.
The boys love any chicken cooked on the grill. Salmon was a big hit, burgers, pb&j (2 jars) as well as the deadly donuts from our local store.
The 5 y/o favorite store is now Wegmans. Both boys love to come shopping with me because they know they can throw their treats in the cart. We discovered coconut milk ice cream for the youngest in the organic food section. That and a delicious variety of sorbets under the Wegmans brand name. Then there is the chocolate, raspberry vanilla low fat ice cream…again Wegmans brand. I did pay $6.00 for 1 pablano pepper because someone had their hand on the scales when he was weighing it. Loved the concept of punching in the code to print the ticket. (I did go back to the Service desk and get most of my money back!)
For those of you not familiar with Wegmans, it is a local family-owned store that is now in various states on the east coast. The store brands are often better than name brands. I have never regretted buying one of their products. It regularly makes Fortune 500 magazine for one of the top stores in the country. Their website is http://www.wegmans.com and is loaded with wonderful recipes.
Kristin loves their roast beef subs. The boys love the cookie jar for kids for their snack as they travel the store with me.They have also discovered the salt water taffy…
So come Thursday the boys return home to Tuscon. Spoiled rotten with new backpacks, sneakers (purchased at the same local shoe store that has now served the 4th generation!!) , school clothes and scrap books of all of our adventures.
The boys love Niagara Falls. The water park is a huge hit, as is the Big Wheel. They loved having breakfast in the hotel restaurant with the view of the Falls.
While we have had them 7 weeks, the time has flown by. They enjoyed our excursions, but I think their favorite things were just being here with us and playing outside all day. The hot wheels were their tractors so they kept up with Boppa all day.
They have been such a joy to have with us and the house will be awfully quiet after they leave…
